If you're working around Raffles Place or Chinatown and have not heard of Barcook Bakery, you are missing out BIG time!
My colleagues are big fans of Barcook Bakery. And what's so good about this bakery at Hong Lim? Try the soft and delicious Cheese & Raisin bread (at S$1.30 each) and you'll know why.
This place is often spotted with an extremely loooooong queue especially during lunch hour. I was told that the bread is often sold out by 2pm. And at this bakery, you have to buy what's available there. There's not much of an option - they don't allow you to pick and choose there. Bread nazi! Hahaha!!! That's what we call it.
I've been very lucky (and spoilt). Someone has been joining the queue just to get the Cheese & Raisin bread for me. Yay! And I've just gotten a few pieces of the bread. Shall leave it for breakfast tomorrow. I've tried leaving the bread to the following day before I ate it and it was still very soft and yummy. That simple looking raisin bread filled with tasty cream cheese touches a very sweet spot in my heart! Try it, and you'll know what I mean.

For bread, it's not bad but the workers there sucks! They ought to train them. there were so many of them and there was a queue, but only one person is serving (getting the breads. And there is this one customer who came in to collect his bread whihc apparently is not ready yet, this "one" person serving staff serve him. Meaning? no one serving the queue! and because there was proper queue direction and there was 2 entrance, people just came in and the staff just serve whoever infront of them without observing which customer came first. I was the 3rd in the queue but I waited over 5mins, compared to bread talks where the workers are fast and focus, wont take over 1 min. and whats worst, another customer who just came in cuts in and she went to serve another person. Well.. I used to buy like 4 breads a day, everyday from them as I work in central. Today I siply walk away, I'll tell my friends and neighbours about their bad service and no.. I will not be going back to them.
